Round Top, Texas: A Stay at Junk Gypsy Wander Inn

Round Top, Texas is home to the most amazing antique shopping and the best place to stay while you’re there is the Junk Gypsy Wander Inn! It’s even better to invite a few friends and make it a girls trip to remember and this is exactly what we did. Let me share the fun with you…

My friend, Jill Stout of Gathered Grace, planned and arranged the entire trip for us! She’s amazing. I even made a new friend, Cindi McCloud of Ivory Home Designs!

We had so much fun and a getaway to the amazing Hill Country was just what I needed. There were so many places to visit, good food to eat, and shopping to do. I hope that you get inspired to check it out next time you have the chance.

Staying at the Wander Inn Star House

After a scenic drive, we arrived at the Wander Inn Star House, our charming log cabin for the trip. This hidden gem, nestled in the heart of Round Top, offered a cozy, rustic feel that made us feel right at home.

The turn off the main road is easy to find with the Junk Gypsy truck and the signature crown signage.

The Star House provided the perfect accommodations for our girl’s road trip adventure.

The flagstone walkway will lead you past the other cabin called the Crown House as well as the shared firepit, outdoor games like cornhole and picnic tables.

We were greeted with the sweetest goodie bags upon arrival that made us feel ultra special.

The main living space downstairs hosts a kitchenette and fireplace as well as the most stunning decor. Two bedrooms are down and then the intricate wood staircase leads upstairs to the other two bedrooms.

Each bedroom has it’s own bathroom complete with whirlpool tub. There were each uniquely decorated with a bit of whimsy we have grown to love from the Junk Gypsy sisters. They have literally thought of everything.

Amie and Jolie Sikes, the actual Junk Gypsy sisters, have such a great story–read it here.

I stayed in the Wanderlust room pictured on the left, the Stardust room is in the center, the Wild Blue Yonder room is on the right. (Bandito room is not pictured, but is also amazing with two queen beds)

In the evening, everything on the grounds is lit up with the most mesmerizing outdoor lights. Sit around the firepit and roast s’mores while sharing your stories from the day’s finds.

Each morning fresh hot homemade biscuits are delivered to your door to enjoy.

My favorite thing to do was sitting on the back porch sipping on my coffee and whatching the sunrise. I can still hear the sounds of the birds chirping, the crickets fading, and the easy breeze in the trees. Heaven.

Shopping at Gypsyville: Home of the Junk Gypsy Sisters

No trip to Round Top would be complete without a visit to Gypsyville, the iconic shop owned by the Junk Gypsy sisters.

The store was a whimsical wonderland, filled with bohemian decor, quirky clothing, and, of course, antiques.

The handmade boots came in every size, shape and color. It was amazing.

We couldn’t resist picking up a few unique items to bring a piece of Round Top back home with us.

Antique Shopping Extravaganza

Exploring Round Top Antiques

As we meandered through Round Top and even a couple of nearby towns, like Carmine, we stumbled upon several hidden gems. These small towns reminded me of some of my recent flea market trips.

The stores had an impressive collection of vintage finds as well as beautiful European furniture pieces.

There are so many cute shops around the downtown square in Round Top including my new favorite–Wimberly Round Top, Texas.

This is where I discovered not only a few boutique items for myself, but also some great gifts!

Savoring Steaks and Seafood at Local Eateries

Antique shopping works up quite an appetite! We took a break to indulge in some mouthwatering seafood and steaks at a local eatery called Lulu’s. The relaxed atmosphere and perfectly cooked meal made for a delightful dining experience. A quick walk around the square after dinner made this the perfect evening!

Pie King Perfection at Royer’s Cafe and Pie Haven

For a bit of something sweet, we also dined at a charming restaurant whose specialty is pies. The mouth-watering flavors and hearty portions were exactly what we needed to satisfy any sweet tooth. Every bite was a treat and we even took a few pies home to our husbands.
